Hyl-Tun Farm- Facilities
All Riders are Required to Sign a Hyl-Tun Farm Release.
Horse Stalls
The facilities at Hyl-Tun Farm consist of the large barn astride the hill which is the usual center of operations. There are 24 stalls (11ft x 12ft) in the lower level of this barn and an additional six larger stalls available in the lower barns at the main farm. All stalls at the upper barn require stall guards which must be supplied by the user. No shavings are supplied. All stalls must be left picked and banked.
X-Country Schooling Course

The earliest riding takes place behind the lower/main house in an area which is dry enough to ride within mere days after the snow leaves in late April or early May. A cross-country course is available there with elements from beginner to training including coops, ditches, banks, etc. Later in the season, beginning in mid- to late-June, the main fields and trails become available including the water complex.
Potable water and Porta-Potties
These are readily available at either the upper or lower farms. In addition solar showers are available at the upper farm.
Sleeping and Eating Facilities
The main floor of the upper barn is reserved for sleeping either in pitched tents, in hammocks, on cots, or on air mattresses. A refrigerator, microwave oven, tables and a few chairs are provided. In addition, the main floor is generally where lectures, meetings, and general discussions take place.
The Trails

The trail system consists of eight miles of bridle trails along streams and beaver flowages as well as along the ridges of glacial eskers through a mix of selectively cut and old-growth forests. There are five bridges, all of them eight feet wide and without railings, two of them 30 feet long, and three water crossings. Because of the many steep hills, bridges and water crossings, anyone new to trail riding or with a horse skittish about water or bridges should at a minimum travel with other, more-experienced riders/horses. As is stated in the Release, we are not responsible for accidents occurring out on the trails or in or on any other of our facilities. The
Trails section shows a general outline of the trail system with more detailed narratives.

Museum
